The Republican Governors Association (RGA) elected Tennessee Governor Bill Lee to serve as its next chair.
RGA, according to its website, is a political organization that “helps elect Republicans to governorships throughout the nation and provides them with the resources to help them govern effectively.”

“Republican governors are reminding the nation that common sense, conservative policies drive economic prosperity and expand opportunity, security and freedom — changing lives for the better,” Lee said in a statement. “I thank Governor Kim Reynolds for her exceptional leadership as RGA Chair over the past year, and I look forward to working with my colleagues to support incumbent Republican governors and elect more to our ranks.”
Georgia Governor Brian Kemp was also elected to serve as RGA vice chair, according to the organization. Both Lee and Kemp were elected during RGA’s 2023 Annual Conference. Both will serve a one-year term, assuming their positions immediately.
Kemp said he looks forward to Lee’s leadership, saying in a statement, “I’m honored to be elected to this position and to work with my colleagues to ensure the RGA’s efforts in 2024 are successful. RGA has consistently been the most effective political organization in the country, and under Governor Lee’s leadership I know we will continue to take our message to every state on the map. I’m looking forward to working with him in the effort.”
RGA’s 2023 Annual Conference also saw Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt elected to serve as the organization’s policy chair.
In addition, the following governors will serve on RGA’s 2024 executive committee: Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves, Montana Governor Greg Gianforte, South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster, Texas Governor Greg Abbott, and Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin.
A recent poll conducted by the Nashville-based think tank Beacon Center of Tennessee showed Lee’s approval rating among Tennessee voters at 47 percent.
